Homemaking

I’ve been a homemaker now for almost 8 years, ever since I married JT, my high school sweetheart.  Newsflash: I’m terrible at it.  I don’t clean much, I don’t cook near as often as I would like to, I’m not even good at keeping laundry going.  I am however really good at reorganizing everything over and over again to keep my husband on his toes, spending his hard earned money on decorating and organizing products, and getting halfway through cool projects that I’ve seen on the internet.

Granted, homemaking is not all that I’ve done for the last 8 years.  I went to school for a few semesters to study interior design, spent a while selling Amway products, started a failed craft blog, and most recently I’ve spent the last 3 years going to school part time working on my BFA in visual design (art for video games).

I love being an artist and would really like to work freelance, from my home office.  I would love to get better at homemaking, and maybe even start growing some of my own food the in the garden.  These things require dedication, something that I’ve never been particularly good about.  So I’m going to try harder starting now.

At 26 weeks pregnant today, I have a new motivation to get better at these things.  I want to earn some income with my very expensive art degree to help my husband out and allow him to spend more time at home with his family.  I want to keep the house in order so that we have one less thing to worry about all the time.  I want to be a better example of a healthy, productive adult for my kids so that they might become healthy, productive adults.

This blog will be a general lifestyle blog.  As a nerdy stay-at-home wife and mother with a freestyle art career on the side, I should have some fun things to share.  I’ll post interesting crafts that I’m working on, food that I’ve recently made that I’m particularly proud of, and some journal style posts about life and family.  I’ll post art works in progress, upcoming video games that I’m excited about, and which cosplay costume I’m working on for myself or the kids.  Sometimes posts will be specifically nerdy and sometimes they won’t.  Sometimes they will be mildly entertaining, and sometimes they won’t.  Maybe down the road this blog will even make money, but for now, I’m just excited to share my journey to motherhood, proper homemaking, and art with anyone interested.

I don’t know you yet, but I’m thrilled to meet you!
